Ingredients
  

Banana Bread Batter

  • 1.5 cups mashed ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness.
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 0.25 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed ripe bananas, sour cream, vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt to distribute evenly.
  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread the cream cheese over it and then pour the remaining batter on top.
  • Bake for about 60-70 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread light. Check the bread at 60 minutes to prevent overbaking. Consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for texture.
