Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed (about 1½ cups)
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter for frosting, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
  • 0.5 cups chopped walnuts for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Mix in mashed bananas and sour cream until smooth.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in chopped walnuts evenly.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth for the frosting.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until creamy.
  • Spread frosting over cooled cake and garnish with chopped walnuts before serving.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and moisture. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake soft and fluffy. Toast walnuts lightly for enhanced flavor. Ensure the cake is fully cooled before frosting. Store in the refrigerator due to cream cheese frosting.
